One of the most popular hatchbacks from Maruti Suzuki, Baleno continued to dominate the Indian roads again and earned the top spot in the list. Maruti Suzuki sold 18,417 units of Baleno in October 2023 but also suffered a 5% decline from the previous year. The company sold 19,369 units in October 2022, that is 952 units more than the current year.
The hatchback has been immensely popular among the middle audience since its launch in 2015. With the starting on-road price of ₹6.61 Lakh, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine along with a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT automatic gearbox. Apart from this, Baleno has an impressive mileage figure of 22.94 km/l on petrol and 30.61 km/kg on CNG, which makes it a value-for-money hatchback and the best option for a middle-class family.
2. Maruti Suzuki WagonR
Another popular Maruti Suzuki hatchback, WagonR makes its appearance in the list and earns the second spot with 16,250 units being sold in October 2023. However, it reported a 19% decline as 20,078 were sold in October 2022. The first generation of WagonR was introduced to the Indian market on 18 December 1999. Since then, it has been one of the most iconic hatchbacks that can be parked in almost every second Indian household. WagonR is immensely popular among middle-class families with its price range starting from ₹5.54 Lakh.

It looks like Nexon’s facelift turned out to be a big factor in increasing sales. With this, Nexon also became the Best-selling compact SUV that comes with a perfect five-star safety rating. Another SUV makes its appearance in the list as Maruti Suzuki Brezza earns the fourth spot in the list of highest-selling cars in October 2023. With 15,001 units sold last month, Brezza reported a minor 3% decline in terms of year-on-year growth. It looks like Maruti Suzuki has intelligently improved upon all the major cons of SUVs resulting in the success of the second-generation Brezza. It comes with some great features like the sunroof, 360-degree camera, and heads up which make it look more modern and appealing.

8. Tata Punch

Hyundai Venue has successfully increased its sales after improving its safety features, updating its engine, and applying minor changes on board. Venue recorded an impressive 11% year-on-year growth with 12,204 units being sold last month. With a price range starting from ₹7.89 Lakhs, it comes with a 1.2-litre petrol, 1-liter turbo-petrol and an upgraded 1.5-litre diesel unit, along with five-speed manual for the 1.2-litre petrol, a six-speed iMT/DCT for the turbo petrol and a sole six-speed manual for the diesel. It also comes with six airbags that ensure the safety of the passengers.
