Imphal: Due to the current circumstances in Manipur, schools have remained shut for the last two months. But the Directorate of Education passed an order on the previous Monday to reopen the schools. Schools in Manipur will resume their regular classes for the students of classes 9th to 12th from the day after tomorrow. This decision of L Nandakumar will come as a positive step in the education sector in Manipur.
“All Zonal Education Officers under the Department of Education, Schools Manipur are hereby directed to notify all concerned and take appropriate action,” says Director L Nandakumar Singh of the Directorate of Education (Schools) in an order issued on Monday.
Furthermore, the state administration has compiled a list of students who have been relocated due to the state’s recent law and order problems. The total number of schoolchildren (from pre-primary to class XII) currently residing in relief camps is 4747.
Background:
Schools in Manipur have been closed down entirely for the last two months due to the ongoing ethnic violence in the city. The educational institution in Manipur was closed from the 4th of May 2023 onwards after the declaration of the summer holidays from the 4th of May to the 30th of May 2023 and the issuance of the following order because of the overall law and order crisis in the districts of Manipur.
Earlier, the Directorate of Education (Schools) scheduled to continue the regular classes for all the academies in the state from the 21st of June, but it deferred till the 1st of July, 2023. Afterward, the regular classes for Class 1 to 8 were continued in the state from the 5th of July, 2023, with inadequate attendance.
