The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Abdul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazib, two key suspects in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, near Kolkata. They were apprehended from a hotel in Purba Medinipur where they had been hiding under false identities. The blast, which occurred on March 1 at a cafe in Bengaluru, injured nine people. NIA’s investigation, which included analyzing over 300 CCTV feeds, revealed that Taha and Shazib, linked to an ISIS module in Shivamogga, were responsible for planning and executing the blast using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The blast took place at around 1:30 p.m. in the cafรฉ, on 1st March; 2024. This was the time when crowds visited the cafรฉ as it is the lunch time for almost all workplaces and many people visit the cafรฉ for lunch.

Injuries and Casualties
The Home Minister of Karnataka, G Parameshwara, reported that a blast at The Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area on Friday resulted in injuries to at least nine people.

Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, confirmed on Friday that the explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe was caused by a low-intensity improvised explosive device (IED). This confirmation came just hours after the blast at the well-known cafe in central Bengaluru shocked the city, often referred to as India’s IT capital. Siddaramaiah stated that the explosive device had been hidden inside a customer’s bag.
What does the Cafรฉ owner has to say about the blast?
Divya Raghavendra Rao, the person who started and runs the cafe, stated, “This incident wasn’t caused by a gas cylinder blowing up. All our gas cylinders in the kitchen are secure, and we haven’t found any problems.” She also mentioned, โWe’ve provided the police full access to our security camera footage. The bomb squad is currently examining the restaurant to determine the cause of the explosion. We’re fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.โ

What is the police doing?
