Pakistan cricket has been hit by fresh controversy after young batter Haider Ali was arrested in England on charges of sexual molestation and rape during the Pakistan Shaheens’ recent tour of the United Kingdom. The 24-year-old cricketer, part of the ‘A’ team squad, has been provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) pending the outcome of an ongoing police investigation.

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), a rape report was received on Monday, August 4, 2025, concerning an incident that allegedly took place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at a private residence in Manchester. GMP confirmed, “We have arrested a 24-year-old man, who has since been bailed pending further enquiries.” In line with UK legal practice, the suspect’s name was not officially released, but PCB later confirmed the player involved is Haider Ali.
Sources revealed that police confiscated Haider’s passport as part of standard procedure to prevent any flight risk while the investigation continues. Authorities are gathering witness statements, forensic data, and other potential evidence.

Born on October 2, 2000, in Attock, Punjab, Haider Ali is known as a right-handed middle-order batsman famed for his aggressive stroke play. His journey to professional cricket is marked by resilience—coming from a modest background, he once sold fruits to support his family while pursuing his cricket dreams.
